James Lombe Simon

James has accepted a position with the Wyndham City Council as a Community Development Officer after several years working as a Community Development Worker for the ADEC’s Transcultural Mental Health Access program. Originally from South Sudan, his family left his home country when he was 10 and settled in Northern Uganda where he completed his secondary education and worked with several Humanitarian Aid Organizations as a Community Organizer. He later pursued further studies in Venezuela, USA and the United Kingdom, and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management at the University of Melbourne. Prior to relocating to Australia in 2009, he managed a Community Engagement and Advocacy program at the Alliance for Healthy Tomorrow in Boston, USA. He is fluent in more than five languages and has a wide range of professional interests and backgrounds. He brings with him a passion for social inclusion and community empowerment.
